Eligability

Eligibility to Fish the GreenHorn Division of the GreenHorn Bass Tour

Definition of a GreenHorn:

“A person who is new to or inexperienced at a particular activity.”

The GreenHorn Division is designed for the entry level and intermediate angler, is intended to be more about the learning experience and fun on the water than the cash reward, and is geared to build a fishing foundation that anglers can take with them to more advanced leagues.

If you can answer YES to any of the following statements you do not qualify for the GreenHorn Division of the GreenHorn Bass Tour and would be considered ADVANCED:

Note: All criteria apply for both anglers on a Team.

Questions regarding industry and professional status:

  • Do you work in the fishing industry?

Note: Sales clerks at stores such as Gander Mountain or Cabelas may be permitted pending all other criteria and fishing history are met.

  • Do you have paying sponsors?

Note: Sponsors which provide a “discount” or a donation to charitable foundations may be permitted pending all other criteria and fishing history are met. Anglers with sponsors providing cash or goods to an angler with value greater than $50.00 will not be permitted.

  • Are you are a local guide?

  •  Do you host fishing programs?

  • Do you fish with higher level leagues such as Bassmasters or FLW?

Questions regarding fishing history (outside of the GHBT):

Note: The directors of the GHBT will review your fishing history through Classic Bass and other online sources. If no fishing history is available and you have fished in leagues in the past five years you may be asked to provide the GHBT with tournament results we can use to compare your skill level with that of the anglers in our league.

  • Have you placed in the top 2 in 3 events  or more last season?

o   An event is defined as a tournament with 8 or more boats.

  • Have you placed in the top 3 in 5 events or more over the past 2 fishing seasons?

o   An event is defined as a tournament with 6 or more boats.

  •  Are your five best fish weights greater than 13lbs on a consecutive basis (80% of the time or greater)?

Note: Returning members which have fished in the GHBT in or since 2011 will qualify as GreenHorn or Advanced based on their GHBT Rating. See the GreenHorn Rating Page.
